3 Telltale Signs You Are Due New Brand Photography – however much you dread the idea of it!
I hear it time and time again that business owners dread having their brand photography taken. Some have been waiting YEARS until they finally book in for a shoot.
I get it! The thought alone makes you cringe, and the idea of having to pose in front of the camera feels anywhere from awkward to downright petrifying. I hear some would even rather book in for a root canal treatment at the dentist than book a shoot with a brand photographer! 🤯
Clearly, it’s not something we do for the pure joy of it, although, ironically, it can turn out to be a business task that is more fulfilling and confidence-boosting than you could ever imagine.
Now let’s dig into the tell-tale signs for when it’s high time to shed the fear and jump into a shoot – pronto:
You’ve dodged the request for a professional photo too many times to admit, and even you start to think it’s getting ridiculous.
This may have been to promote your next campaign/new book/new podcast/guest speaking opportunity/guest blogging/etc. If the only images you have are outdated, off-brand, and frankly don’t resemble your current self, it’s time to realise that something needs to change. You’ve used any and all stock photography in the desperate hope that it’ll support your message and words just fine and you don’t have to be visible.
And while you’ve done a good job trying to stay with your brand colours and feel, it’s clear a vital part is missing: YOU! The benefits of feeling safe for not having to show up is costing you dearly! It’s clear that your people need to see and experience you to trust you to be the solution for their problems, and to hand over their hard-earned money to you. You’re the proud owner for a brilliant set of brand images (YAY!) and yet they’re not cutting it anymore.
Could be that you’ve used them gazillion times already (congrats!) and your audience is growing tired of them. Or you have big dreams for a wider reach and authority you want to claim in your business, and your current images don’t give off the right energy for that. Or you’ve rebranded your business and decided on an entirely different look, feel, colour scheme etc. Or you yourself have changed: new hairdo, new glasses, different body shape, clothing style etc. It’s definitely time to upgrade your brand photography in line with the next-level you, business and brand.
If you resonated with any of the above, then you’re due a brand photography upgrade!
No more hiding, let’s look your fear right between the eyes!
Ask yourself “What’s the worst that could happen?”
And equally as important: “What’s the best that could happen?”
